April Farmers' Market
It was the monthly farmers market again, this morning.
So we bought bread (from the back: black olive, sunflower, walnut and raisin, garlic and herb, 5 seed and white),
smoked salmon, smoked chicken, sausages made from smoked trout and also from goat, mature Cheshire cheese,
carrots, sprouting broccoli, parsnips and leeks,
soup (celeriac, parsnip and smoked red pepper and bean and tomato), dry cider, apples (unknown variety),
then crisps (potato and carrot, parsnip and beetroot), fudge, three sorts of eggs (unfortunately dropped - but only the large Leghorn failed to survive impact) and biscuits.
A very good haul.

I love going to the farmers market also, but it really hasnt started up here yet.
I think your poups sound great I will have to show Mike this, he loves things like this.
the soups look really good, the celeric one has such a nice color. Is that some sort of celery mix? Mike said he used to put parsnips in soup. Love roasted red peper.
glad the makeup remover worked and you didnt have to go to market spotty ;o)
Real bread - how delightful! I must shop in the wrong places when I'm in the UK.
S: When do your farmer markets start? I bet you get different stuff where you are - that would be interesting.
I'm impressed that Mike makes his own soup. I do sometimes but I'm feeling lazy at the moment. Sometimes I make bread too but it takes a long time. It smells good though.
Lee: Many supermarkets have real bread in the UK now - the large ones, anyway. They pipe the air around to attract customers in with the smell. I think it's supposed to make people buy more too.
I'm coming over for dinner. Five-ish?
JL: :-)
It all looks lovely.
It all looks so wholesome! I *do* buy healthy food, but my recent shopping trips haven't been camera-worthy. Let's see...giant Costco-sized packs of ground pork, chicken breasts, strawberries, skim milk, Boursin cheese, pre-made pizza shells and two packages of Aveeno skin cream. Not very photogenic :-)
Thnaks CFR.
Ours is usually like that too, Susan. But I do think it would be great if I could buy everything like this, but it is not so practical, really. I do think it looks beautiful, though. Something that strikes me as I look again is how very lucky I am to have all this variety, all this stuff.
Note to self: Next chance - GO TO FARMERS MARKET.
What an inspiring haul of goodies. :)
How fortunate you are to have such a wonderful farmers' market and so many fine local purveyors! Our farmers' market won't start up until mid May...but even then there will only be a fraction of these fine goods available. It does seem to get a little better every year with more offerings and more vendors. Thank you for sharing! TJ
