What I'm Doing 21:
What I'm listening to:
BLACK AND WHITE from the album OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS which I have on order. I hadn't realised quite how bleak this song is - but I still love it.
What I watched last:
IL POSTINO which I think is now one of my most favourite films of all time. It is about a man who becomes a postman to a poet who has been exiled to a small island off the Italian coast. They become friends and a satisfying relationship develops between the two of them. It is, I think, about how little one human being can really know another.
What I'm reading:
13 WAYS OF READING A NOVEL by Jane Smiley - and it is still excellent.
What I'm looking forward to (very much):
Going down to London tomorrow and meeting a few friends.
What I'm dreaming about:
Writing in my shed.

Il Postino is delightful! Have you ever seen Cinema Paradiso? Also wonderful.
Have fun in London!
I loved 'Black & White', but I found the album quite disappointing. In fact I've been trying to give it away on my swapshop account for a while, if only I'd have known you wanted it. I hope you connect with it better than I did.
And on Friday, I was priveleged.....
On Friday, I stepped into The Shed.
Yes, I did!
On Friday, Clare shared her new Special Place with some friends.
It has the delicious scent of Newness.
It has latticed windows.
It fits snugly beside Clare's house as though it has always nestled ther.
It BELONGS already.
Hi Laura - thank you for the recommendation - I am always on the look-out for good films so this is much appreciated.
Oh what a shame, Jem! I know I like two, and I shall soon find out because it arrived today.
Jan: Heh - Hodmandod Senior has just measured it up for some insulation, so I think I'm going to have to wait a little wile before installation. Maybe I'll need another shed-warming party then...
Your shed has spurred me on to do some more painting of the room that was going to be my office, but is now going to be the spare bedroom so that the smaller spare bedroom can be my office ... writing rooms are special ... I must get going so that I can bask in mine at the same time as you in yours :)
Il Postino is a fantastic film - which reminds me; I must watch it again.
Il Postino is way up there among my favourite films as well. I particularly love it when Beatriz's mother tells her: 'All men who touch first with words go much further afterwards with their hands,' But she's too late because Beatriz has already been seduced by Neruda's metaphors.
CB: yes hearing about what other people are doing spurs me on to do something in my own life too. This shed project was partly initiated by reading Daphne (you'll see why soon, I hope) and also corresponding with a friend in the US.
You've seen El Postino too! I think I am the only who has missed out until now!
Hello JB! Great to see you here - and someone with excellent taste too, I see.
