8th June
It is 4 am and already the sun has risen. Above the roofs of the houses a grey-blueness gradually yields to a pale yellow and then red.
I look at the news and see that Nick Griffin of the British National Party has been elected to represent me in Europe.
Then, when I look through the window again, it is as if the sky is bleeding.

From what little I know of this fellow he and his party seem to have an interesting past.
Better luck next time.
It's noon now, and I still can't believe it.
So I take it you don't lean nearly so far to the right as your new representative.
Nope, if Thomas Paine were still around he'd get my vote.
Sorry to hear that Clare. My partner and I were talking about this yesterday, saying how awful it must feel to live in one of the areas with the BNP representatives. Because although they were voted in of course there are thousands in those areas that didn't vote for them.
Yes, I read today how London says 'FO' to Nick Griffin, as if the majority of people in the NW had not. It made me feel ashamed of where I live.
Really sorry to read about that. He sounds truly horrible! I hope that progressive political forces in your region organise more effectively next time, increase the turnout and banish the BNP to a blip in history.
Yes, Paul, we need some organisation - I think this has caught us all out. I don't think anyone could believe it could happen.
