Twentieth Sunday Salon 18.30
In response to Petrona's Sunday Salon post I have just tried to find the first Booker Prize winner: SOMETHING TO ANSWER FOR by P. H. Newby but the only edition I can find on Amazon is available for about £80 second hand. Astonishing! I shall have to try and order it from the library.

Oh dear, that's sad. Have you tried Abe books? (Mind you, I think they may link into Amazon. But I've found them quite good in the past.)
Interestingly, the three Stanley Middleton books I bought via Amazon all turned out to be ex-library copies.
There is one in Cheshire libraries so I've added my name to the waiting list. It is sad, isn't it? I found a review and it did sound good.
