Twenty-first Sunday Salon 23.13: Review of Meek's DESCENT

(Unfortunately the link doesn't seem to be permanent - this link takes you to the Revish site - when you get there type either 'James Meek' or 'Now We Are Beginning Our Descent' in the box in the RH corner).

I'm not familiar with James Meek, but your review certainly sparked my interest. The passage you quoted was marvelous.
Yes, I highly recommend, although it took me a quite a few pages to get used to his style. His first book, THE PEOPLE'S ACT OF LOVE, was long-listed for the Booker.
Great review Clare.
Great review; I've added We Are Now Beginning Our Descent to my LibraryThing to-read queue. :) I now plan to spend a few minutes googling James Meek's other works. Hehe. :P
Thank you CB!
And thank you to you, too, Chayenne - be very careful how you add that book to the top of your pile, now - if it's anything like mine it might be close to 'critical' - in danger of falling over and causing injury :-)
Is that your voice, Clare? Delightful listening to the review!
Thanks, Susan! No it's not my voice. I am lower and more English-sounding.
