Not Weird.
Today I spent the day writing a short story submission for qarrtsiluni. The deadline is tomorrow - so I'm cutting it fine as usual. I read it to my mother over the phone and she said 'It's very you.' I asked her what she meant and she said 'Weird.'
Unfortunately it was an opinion shared by Hodmandods Minor and Senior when I outlined it to them. I prefer the term 'original'.

Well, that's a bit rude, even for a family member! I do very much like the term 'original'.
It reminds me of talking to women who have decided to have children by themselves, sans conventional man, and being told by older, more traditional female family members, that it is 'brave'.
I.e. 'weird'.
I intend, now, to use the term 'original'.
Thank you so much.
Yes, it is all my own work. And it did get deeper. A lot deeper.
Yes, JW, all sorts of euphemisms for 'weird'I think, and yes, 'brave' is another one - it hadn't occurred to me before but it is true.
And yes, deep mess - necessary somehow to the creative process. I am always suspicious of very tidy people - I think they probably have boringly tidy minds.
Hello Clare
Sorry, my comment is boringly tidy.
You missed an 'i' in qarrtsiluni.
I look forward to reading your piece of wierdness.
I also submitted something for this edition.
Best, Jonathan.
Heh, thanks Jonathan...Good luck. I'm not sure you will ever see my offering. The editors wanted me to edit and I'm not sure I am going to get around to doing it. I feel a bit worn out.
