A Poem: EMAIL

Here's a poem for Poetry Thursday.

A couple of days ago I came across an old email while I was tidying up my mail boxes.

EMAIL
I am looking for something else when I find them:
ten words -
like your voice on the answerphone,
like your photo
at the bottom of the drawer.

Like standing in the cold sea
- and a warm wave
coming from nowhere.

Just for that moment
you're still here.

Clare,
You have no idea how much resonance those words hold for me this evening. I think this poem will be the road sign in my map of life for remembering the good times of one particular relationship. If only the warmth of a wave and "that moment" could continue.
Thank you.

Interesting...a new subject for a poem. A way to look at email as something intimate, an encapsulation of loss.

And thank YOU, CFR. I guess all we can do is try to remember the warm waves - something I'm not too good at myself, I have to say.

Twitches and Bee: thanks for taking a look. I've looked at your blogs now and love what I see. My bloglines are getting longer.

And thanks CB - a comment from you always means a lot. Especially about my attempts at poetry!
