Dudman Delight.
On our first holiday together Hodmandod Senior and I bought some violets from a seller in the Paris Metro. Today we discovered the essence of the those flowers in a bottle.
The liqueur on its own didn't work to our minds, so tonight we concocted a cocktail which was much better:
3 oz gin,
1.5 oz lemon juice,
1.5 oz violette liqueur,
2 tsps of castor sugar
shaken with a glass of ice and strained.
(served 2)
It had a bitter-sweet flavour and the attractive aroma of violets. We have called it Dudman Delight.
Next time we are going to try to make Hodmandod Delight - using grenadine instead of the sugar.
