Good notepad intentions
Reading the David Sedaris book has inspired me. I need to be more serious about making notes. So today I bought myself a tiny notepad. It is like a Moleskine that fits inside my palm.
I am going to write down everything that occurs to me: ideas for future chapters; descriptions of people; jokes; things to read; anything that might come in useful in my life as a writer.

Great idea, Clare. I use one of these as a constantly updating to-do list. When one page gets too cluttered I just move what hasn't been crossed off to the next page. It's great for jotting down just anything.
Yes, Debra, exactly! Great for lists too. The only trouble I can foresee is that it is very easily lost. I think if I were a manufacturer I would make them with a whistle or light that could be activated by the clapping of a pair of hands. Keys could do with this too.
I thought I'd lost one a couple years ago and panicked, but as it turned out it wasn't lost. So, in my experience they cannot really be lost, if that helps any :)
That is very reassuring Debra, though I am still hankering after the whistle/light version and wondering if I should have really gone for the less sophisticated although maybe more visible red variety.
