Proof Positive
The proof of my novel arrived this morning - and it looks wonderful!
Also arrived this morning was the last of my current order of Anglo-Indian books:
Kanthapura by Raja Rao
The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
and A House for Mr Biswas by V.S. Naipaul
I have dipped into the Naipaul and Desai ones already (and think they're great), but have been dying to read the Rao one ever since I ordered it - so I think that might be the one to start my weekend's reading.

Name above title, Clare, excellent!
I've ordered my copy from Amazon.
Gad to see somebody else is as behind as me in reading Booker Prize winners (loved WHITE TIGER and am still pleasantly wading through WOLF HALL).
I'm a big fan of anything Naipaul writes, found HOUSE FOR MR. B enjoyable but preferred ENIGMA OF ARRIVAL. Loathed Kiran Desai's book and will put KANTHAPURA on my list.
Thank you, Nora!
I decided last year that I needed to read all the Booker winners starting from the very beginning, and got to the fourth I think. I have read a few others, though - but very behind, as you say.
I agree with you about Naipaul - I have read another of his and loved it too, but not really read enough of Desai yet, though I did like a book written by her mother (Anita Desai) very much.
Not sure I recommend the Kanthapura to be honest. It's interesting, but it's going on a bit (which I think may be the intention). He wanted to refelct how Indians think, talk and walk ie fast!
The book looks great. How exciting! Congrats!!
Thanks Sue!
Clare,
How jolly it is to see you holding an upcoming book! I was feeling a bit ragged around the edges but am instantly more cheerful--hurrah!
Oh, sorry to hear you're feeling like that - but you have four books soon, don't you? So excellent news too...
Well, since you put it that way, I guess one (this one) is insatiable!
(My fun news is that Clive, who did the cover of V/O, is doing three division pages and the cover/jacket for "The Foliate Head." The division pages are wonderful--haven't seen the jacket yet.)
Oooh, that is going to be some book, Marly! Really looking forward to seeing this.
